Studies.

I've recently been making small scale works, as a means to altering my approach to familiar subjects. In any one studio session, it has meant working in rotation on a number of pieces for short periods of time, with each piece informing the next. The size of these paintings has forced a new approach to mark making, using thin, drawn lines that trace structure and distance. The paintings are often resolved as isolated images within a larger surface, becoming object like in themselves.
